A popular chain of restaurants that serve as some of the most well-known local eateries in the Boston area will continue to operate despite filing for bankruptcy. Clover Food Lab, a vegetarian fast-food chain, based in Cambridge, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Friday, citing financial struggles due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to an email sent to customers, all 33 Clover locations will remain open during the bankruptcy process. The company’s founder, Ayr Muir, expressed optimism about the company’s future, stating that they plan to emerge from the bankruptcy in a much stronger financial position.

Clover Food Lab has been a staple in the Boston food scene since its inception in 2008, known for its plant-based menu and commitment to sustainable sourcing. Despite the challenges of the past year, the chain has remained a favorite among locals and visitors alike.

The news of Clover’s bankruptcy filing comes as a surprise to many, but Muir remains confident in the company’s ability to recover and thrive in the future. Customers can continue to enjoy their favorite vegetarian dishes at any of the 33 Clover locations throughout the Boston area.
