Chicago heroes honored at American Red Cross annual breakfast

CHICAGO – The American Red Cross of Greater Chicago honored Chicago heroes at their annual Heroes Breakfast on Wednesday morning.

The event, held at the Hilton Chicago, recognized the heroic actions of individuals who have made a difference in their communities. Among those honored were firefighter Jason Durbin, who saved a man trapped in a burning building, and nurse Maria Rodriguez, who performed life-saving CPR on a stranger.

“These individuals embody the spirit of our mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies,” said Celena Roldan, CEO of the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago.

The event also featured keynote speaker Donna Kale, a motivational speaker and author who shared her own experiences with overcoming adversity and finding strength in difficult times.

The American Red Cross of Greater Chicago thanked all of the heroes in attendance for their selfless acts of courage and compassion. They encouraged others to follow their example and be prepared to act in times of emergency.

The Heroes Breakfast is an annual event that honors local heroes and raises funds to support the American Red Cross’s mission of providing disaster relief, health and safety training, and blood donations in the greater Chicago area.
