Portland State Campus to save food cart pod by using city sewer system

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland State University (PSU) has found a creative solution to save a popular food cart pod on its campus by utilizing the city’s sewer system.

The food cart pod, located on the corner of Southwest Fourth Avenue and College Street, faced closure due to the construction of a new building on campus. However, PSU officials collaborated with the city’s Bureau of Environmental Services to come up with a plan to relocate the food cart pod’s utilities to the city sewer system.

By connecting the food carts’ plumbing to the city sewer system, PSU will be able to avoid disrupting the food cart pod’s operations and keep the popular food options available to students and the community.

The project is expected to be completed by the fall term, and the university has expressed its excitement to continue supporting the local food cart businesses on its campus.

The food cart pod has been a staple of PSU’s campus for years, offering a diverse selection of cuisines to students, faculty, and visitors. With this innovative solution, PSU is ensuring that the community can continue to enjoy the variety of food options that the food cart pod has to offer.
